During the holidays, there is nothing better than saving oven space by being able to use the crock pot! Not to mention saving time!

Have a ham? Have a crock pot? Ready to try our Crock Pot Christmas Brown Sugar Ham?

Get that crock pot out and let’s get going!

Choosing your ham for the crock pot

You will want to make sure you start out with a pre-cooked smoked ham as this will cut your cooking time down to 4-6 hours on low, or 2-3 hours on high. However, it just depends on how the rest of your day is going and if you’re in a time crunch.

The next important thing is:

1. Make sure your ham is about 7-8 pounds and also a nice Butt Ham. The Shank Hams will not fit into the crock pot and you would be left with a tiny shank ham, or end up putting it in the oven after all.

2. It is a good idea to get a measurement of the crock pot you have!! More on that coming up!

Check out this site for a more in depth guide to ham cuts etc.

Tinfoil saves the day! Take that, ham that refuses to fit into the crock pot!

The butt ham we used for this recipe fit depth wise, but was almost too wide on the cut end.

Squeeeze!!!

Now, it is ok if your ham sticks out of the top a little bit, where the lid won’t fit.

Don’t panic. All is well! You might have to be creative like we did!

If, for some reason, your ham will not fit no matter how much you try begging and shoving at it, just get 2 or 3 layers of tin foil, and seal tightly over the top.

Crock pot cooking times for the Christmas brown sugar ham!

Then, decide on your time! High or low? 2-3 or 4-6 hours?

The nice thing with a slow cooker is the ability to set it up and let it do its thing! The holidays are hectic enough but the crock pot will take the burden of cooking your brown sugar ham on Christmas!

Good crock pot! Good! We adore ours and can’t imagine life without it!

If you are lucky enough to have another crockpot on hand, then you can try one of our easy side dishes from Thanksgiving like Crockpot Sweet Potatoes. Nice thought huh?

Sadly, we only have our one big crock pot. However, we plan on making ahead a few dishes the day before. Hey, anything to cut down on kitchen time!

We would rather be drinking hot cocoa and opening presents with Rochelle! She is such a ham herself!

Review of Prepping and cooking the Crock Pot Christmas Brown Sugar Ham

This is a recipe with very little prep time involved. The first thing to do is pour the pineapple juice into the crock pot and then set the temperature for low or high.

Next, mix the brown sugar, honey, white balsamic vinegar, and Dijon mustard together in a medium bowl. Set the glaze aside.

Third, get out the ham and get it unwrapped! Pat dry any excess moisture off of the ham to ensure that the glaze sticks well.

Smother the glaze all over the ham
Coat the ham in the glaze

Lastly, Give that ham a good coating of glaze!, Don’t be shy, Get in there and paint the ham with every last drop of the glaze!

Once you have your ham nice and covered with the brown sugar glaze, you get to try to carry that now very slippery ham to the crock pot and put it in!

No, we did not drop ours although it was kinda funny watching Tanya get the ham into the crock pot. It was like trying to give a greased pig a hug!

Your ham is now baking in the crock pot and all you need to do is peek at it once in awhile, and smell that mouth watering aroma! Yummy!

Once your Crock Pot Christmas Brown Sugar Ham is done, then it is time to take it out and let it rest on a plate covered with a tinfoil tent.

Ah, that tinfoil, so handy it is!

Tip: cut against the grain when it is time to slice the ham for best results.
