Make sure to grease then powder the inside of the bundt pan before pouring in the cake mixture. We used cocoa powder to coat our bundt pan.
How to make the ganache.
The ganache used to drizzle over the cake is simple. It has just 2 ingredients: heavy cream and dark chocolate. It is so simple to make!
The recipe calls for equal parts of heavy cream and dark chocolate.
First, pour 1 cup of heavy cream over 1 cup of either semi-sweet or 65% dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.
Second, zap it in the microwave for about a minute, and stir gently until the chocolate is melted and the ganache is smooth.
Lastly, allow it to cool until it is just about room temperature before drizzling over the cake.
Tip: If it is too warm, it will run right off the cake!

Decadent Chocolate Pound Cake
Ingredients
- CAKE
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup Hershey's unweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 3/4 cups of water
- 2 tbsp instant coffee
- 1 1/2 bars of Baker's unsweetened baking chocolate, broken into pieces
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 large eggs
- GANACHE
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet or 65% dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda together into a bowl. Set aside.
- Bring water and coffee granules to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat, add the Baker's chocolate, stir until smooth.
- Combine sugar, butter, and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat on medium speed until creamy, scraping sides often.
- Add eggs, beat on high for 5 minutes.
- Gradually add the flour mixture alternately with the chocolate mixture, beating on low until well combined. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl often.
- PAN
- Grease a 10-inch bundt pan, and dust with cocoa powder.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 325 for 55 to 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool for 1 hour.
- About 30 minutes before cake is cool, make the ganache!
- Combine the heavy cream and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Gently stir until the chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Allow the ganache to cool to room temperature.
- When cake is cool, run a thin knife around the edges of the pan, making sure the cake is not sticking. Place a plate over the cake, and carefully invert cake onto plate. I usually tap the pan, before lifting if off the cake, just to make sure it has loosened completely.
- Pour the ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip over sides.
- Enjoy with a glass of milk of cup of coffee!
