Our simple Raspberry Coulis is an easy to make berry sauce that is elegant and vibrant in color and will accentuate any dessert wonderfully! The ability to highlight an otherwise drab looking dessert is part of the beauty of this sauce. It is so versatile and goes well with our Baked Apple Pie with Stevia or How To Make The Easiest Fudge Brownies Ever just to name a few!
Our Simple Raspberry Coulis (or your choice of berry or fruit)
The nice thing about this recipe is that any kind of fruit or berry can be used, although some just may need to be run through a blender or food processor for a quick 30 seconds.
Now, some of the various recipes we looked at called for blending the raspberry mixture, and honestly, we just aren’t that fond of seeds. In addition, we wanted the sauce to be thicker, for decorating purposes. Unable to find anything to fit our needs, we went ahead and made our own version. It came out rich and vibrant with a delicious raspberry flavoring that isn’t overpowering.
How to make our Simple Raspberry Coulis
Yup, we just made our own version!! By adding cornstarch in, and letting the berries, water, lemon juice, come to a boil with the cornstarch, then straining, it makes for a delightful sauce that is just thick enough to use as a drizzle or spoon onto a plate for a decoration. And it is still awesome over ice cream!
We used our Simple Raspberry Coulis for our Triple Chocolate Tart and it made for a beautiful presentation!
Coulis (pronounced koo-lee ) is a French term meaning to strain or pour per https://culinarylore.com/cooking-terms:what-is-a-coulis/

Simple Raspberry Coulis is an easy to make berry sauce for your favorite desserts! We love using Raspberries but other fruits can be used too.
Ingredients
12 oz raspberries, fresh or frozen. Thaw frozen completely.
1/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons water
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Directions
- Combine raspberries, sugar, water, cornstarch and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook and stir until the raspberries are soft and syrupy, about 8 minutes.
- Pour through a fine mesh sieve over a bowl, using the back of a spoon to press the liquid through. Discard any seeds that remain. Be sure to scrape the bottom of the sieve as well, as the sauce is slightly thickened from the cornstarch.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 6 months.
